The Independent Palace
The Independence Palace (also called the Reunification Palace) was built from 1868 and completed in 1871 by the French after they had conquered the six provinces in the South of Vietnam (Cocochine). The Palace had been meant to be the Residence of the Governor of South Vietnam and it was called Norodom Palace (after the King of Cambodia).
In February 1962, there was a coup d'etat in the Republic of South Vietnam and the Independence Palace was bombed and partially destroyed. The reconstruction of the Independence Palace was completed in 1966 and it was used as the Residence of the President and the seat of the government of South Vietnam till 1975.
On 30April1975, the two tanks of the People's Army of Vietnam (of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam – North Vietnam) crushed down the walls of the Independence Palace marking the fall of Saigon and the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam); the two pieces of Vietnam were re-unified.

(28/06/2017)After a few minutes meeting and chatting with Saja, you will be captivated by Saja's gentle charm and friendliness. Moreover, as the tour progresses, you will be surprised and come to appreciate the wise head on Saja's young shoulders with the depth of her knowledge of the history and culture of Vietnam and the great variety of events she has experienced in her short yet dramatic life(another story)! She also has a great sense of humour! You will be delighted to know that Saja will be very open, very flexible to meet your preferences for your own unique Historical Tour before you rendezvous, and even afterwards! I have no doubts that you will be glad that you met such a jewel on that wonderful day in Saigon!

(24/04/2016)Though I had to cancel this triip due to other commitments, Sa was great through the planning process and provided me with a full refund upon cancellation.
