Travelling is exciting, I feel it. Sharing the trip is essential, I believe it. There's always something new, I live with it.

A Day Life in A Malay Village.
  • The largest ethnic group in Malaysia is the Malay. Labu Kubong is a hometown, where the villagers are still practising Malay tradition, maintaining the old lifestyle of the Malays. It is completely different from the Malay lifestyle in the city. You can see how different their life is, as the village is free from urbanisation. This is one of the things I wanna share, with all the pros and cons. Even if you're a Malaysians, this might be quite an interesting experience for you. And this particular village, is in KUALA KANGSAR...

And this particular village, is in KUALA KANGSAR...

To the Orchard Like A Malay Farmer.

9.00am. Let's meet each other anywhere around Kuala Kangsar.

(It can be a resthouse/homestay/hotel you checked in, or railway/bus station if you're coming from outside Kuala Kangsar on the day). I'll take you to Kampung Labu Kubong, the Malay traditional village (15mins from the town) and we'll go straight to my uncle's orchard. Please take note that you might get tired here. An orchard is enough I reckon, but there'll be no problem if you want to go to see the other ones, too.

To the River Like A Kampung Boy.

12.00pm. When you're tired enough, I'll take you to Batu Ampar, the natural 'swimming pool' in Kampung Paya Lintah, next to Kampung Labu Kubong. It might not be the best riverside in Malaysia but after some tiring moments, this is the most refreshing and relieving aid. Trust me, it is how we live in Kampung (village) and I'd never want to miss it.

Take A Break at A Local, Malay Home.

2.00pm. We’ll have to leave at this moment if we do not want to be late for the next session (I’m afraid we wouldn’t want to go home, rather stay longer at Batu ampar.) I’ll take you to my grandma’s house, back to Kampung Labu Kubong (get changed and some rest, or take a nap if you want to.). I was planning to treat you for lunch here but that’s quite a problem, since we are in Ramadhan (fasting period for muslim). Anyway, I can treat you fresh coconut drink!

Malay Village Exploration!

4.00pm. Let’s have a look around, shall we? I'll show you around Kampung Labu Kubong, so that you can see the Malay lifestyle in this suburban area. The villagers can still live their life in harmony even without the extreme urbanisation, isn't that nice?

The End.

6.00pm. We'll have to end the visit here :(. Please feel free to tell me if you wanna get some local souvenirs, I’ll take you to the right place.

After that, I’ll send you back to where we met before.
