Ayutthaya with biking tour in the world heritage site
We start the day by cruising to a small village of Baan Saladang, an aged-old Mon community who migrated from Burma to this area in the early 19th century. The villagers here have successfully maintained their traditional life style, customs and natural surroundings. You will also see a collection of well-preserved typical Thai houses in this charming village.
Afterwards, you can partake of a delicious breakfast. Later in the morning about 9:30 am, you will disembark at the pier of Wat Niwet Thama Prawat next to Bang-Pa-In Summer Palace.
Upon arriving at the pier, you will be greeted by your biking guide. After selecting the bicycle and a quick bike fitting, we start the tour by following the road in northern direction through idyllic villages along rice-paddies. Visit a local elementary school (if open) to interact with the children. Continue the ride and make a stop at Phaniat Royal Elephant Kraal. The closer we get to the old capital, the more temple ruins we see along the way.
We will have Thai lunch around noon at a riverside restaurant. After lunch, we enter the old capital and visit historic places such as Wat Mahathat and Wat Pra Sri Sanphet. Our guide will explain the history of Ayutthaya, its temples and kings. We continue with a short ride over a local market where typical local delicacies are baked, fried and sold. Not far from the market, we will make another stop at a big reclining Buddha, the biggest one in Ayuthaya, at Luang Phor Lokayasuttha.
After that, continue biking to Wat Chai Wattanaram. Located on the river bank of the Chao Phraya River, this is a remarkable and beautiful temple. It was constructed in 1630 during the reign of the Ayutthaya King named Prasat Thong as a memorial of his mother’s residence in that area. After a short break at the temple, we continue our ride along the west bank of the Chao Praya River until we get back to Ayutthaya city. You will, then, be transferred to Bangkok, arriving around 6 pm.

Bangkok was once known as Venice of the East due to its bustling water traffic. Unfortunately as the city grows, waterways are neglected. Nevertheless, and known by few the city is surprisingly well connected by canals. As the saying goes "Life is a journey, not a destination." (Ralph Waldo Emerson), I will take you from the West to East of Bangkok by boat. On the way, immerse yourself in the local livelihood. Experience the life of the Bangkok working class.
Taking you and your friends outside Bangkok in much more greener environment. An escape from the polluted city life to a nature friendly atmosphere located in the island in Samut Prakan region. Experience the floating market with the best/cheapest Thai food you have ever tasted. Variety of clothes and other accessories are also available at the market.
Bangkok has one of the most vibrant contemporary art scene. Since most of the city's small private or commercial galleries promote Thai and Asian artists, a half day of gallery hopping is a great way of getting a taste of the local and vibrant 'art' scene that Bangkok has to offer! Like with many things in Bangkok you'll soon discover that there is no concentrated art area and that the city's galleries are pretty much scattered all over town. But still, if you would like to immerse yourself in Bangkok contemporary art scene, be prepared to do a bit of exploring in the maze of Bangkok streets with an artist/creative director 'guru' with international experience as travel/lifestyle writer/photographer. Meet even the artist, let me show you hard to find galleries, artist's studios and artists' hang outs. We can even finish the day at an art opening or at an art related event, an artsy cafe depending on when you book this creative and fun day! Be warned: you may be coming back home with a piece of art! Free BAM (Bangkok Art Map) and Bangkok 101 magazine (while supply last)
