Bánh Mì

I'll take you at hotel/location at around 3p.m. Then we'll go straight to the Saigon food heaven.

Let's start with Bánh Mì

Bánh Mì is the most famous breakfast for the Vietnamese students, its origin's from Baguette in France. After such a long editing process, Bánh Mì becomes a typical food with Saigonese. To describe Bánh Mì, a BBC journalist said: "the pork floss soaks up the sauce, the pate adds moisture and the fact that the baguette is lightly toasted keeps it from getting soggy in this immense humidity". According to David Farley- an journalist of BBC: " Bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwich) is the most delicious food ever".

Noodle

We continue with the 2 kinds of noodle, the first one is Bún Riêu Cua( Fresh-water crab soup)

Bún riêu cua is served with tomato broth and topped with crab or shrimp paste. In this dish, various freshwater paddy crabs are used, including the brown paddy crab found in rice paddies in Vietnam. The crabs are cleaned by being placed in clean water to remove dirt and sand. The crabs are pounded with the shell on into a fine paste. This paste is strained and the crab liquid is a base for the soup along with tomato. The crab residue is used as the basis for crab cakes. Other ingredients for this dish include tamarind paste, fried tofu,., annatto seeds (hạt điều màu) to redden the broth, huyết (congealed pig's blood), split water spinach stems, shredded banana flower, spearmint, bean sprouts and chả chay (vegetarian sausage).

With me, this is the one of the most delicious food in this alley.

The second one is Bún Bò Huế.

This food's origin is from Thừa Thiên Huế province in Vietnam. To cook this cuisine, Huế people add a little mắm ruốc to make this noodle typical and differ it from many other kinds of noodle. After stewing the cow's bone, Huế people often add chilli powder and some other spices to make bún bò more colorful and look attractive. We usually eat bún bò with pork pies or grilled crab and raw vegetable.

Let's eat until we are full.

The next food is maybe popular in many other countries like China, Indonesia,.. but in Vietnam, this food has a different and outstanding taste.

The food i mentioned above is Cơm chiên (fried rice). Cơm chiên in this heaven of food is eaten with fried egg, fried chicken and chicken's tripes.

And many other cuisines...

Crab soup.

Fresh spring roll.

Pig's tripes soup.

Bánh bèo, bánh bột lọc, bánh đúc,...( kinds of cake made from rice).

Now, we move to another cuisine that the Vietnamese young love it so bad. Besides Bánh tráng trộn (Girdle cake is cut into many pieces then mix with beef jerky, beef soup,...), Green papaya salad with beef jerky is one of the most popular cuisines for us. To make this cuisine, we cut papaya by julienne blade, then mix it with fish sauce, sugar, lime juice, chiles, and garlic. Sound great? Let's take a look!

Cool your stomach

With the young people in Vietnam, especially with students, we usually enjoy below kinds of desserts to eliminate hot day and stressed hours after school. We gather together, enjoy the dessert and chat with each other.
