What's up, guys! My name is Ben. I and my brother are co-host of Saigon Taste Tours. I first discovered Saigon during my studies at University after leaving my hometown in rural Vietnam. I immediately became fascinated by the city's unique blend of culture, history, and delicious cuisine. My education was focused on tourism, and I have extensive experience working as a local English-speaking tour guide for various companies. But, I finally decided it was time to bring my own custom-tailored experiences to my guests, which is why I start creating my own local experience tours. My passion is to bring local experiences and to connect you with Vietnamese culture in a fun, distinctive way and be able to showcase highlights of unique places to travelers. It would be my pleasure to design a tour geared towards your personal taste and interests, whether they be historical monuments, street food, architecture, religion, or local workshops. I know how to show you the best part of my city. Let me be your guide to fulfill your Saigon Adventure Journey.

Saigon Street Food and Sightseeing By Bike.

Afternoon tour: 13:30 PM - 17:30 PM & Evening tour: 18:00 PM - 22:00 PM

My greatest joy that I can show you is the best local food spots in Saigon. I want to take you to the most popular street stalls and hidden alleyways in the city and show you where the locals love to eat. It focuses on street food dishes that most people outside of Vietnam have never had a chance to experience.

I will give you a menu of 8 mouth-watering dishes in 6 different food locations. If there is anything not on the menu that you would like to try, I am happy to accommodate this to satisfy you. I will see the process of making food in every spot and you can even practice right away with street vendor chef.

My main goal of this tour to connect you with Saigon via local street food. This tour is suitable for anyone on a budget, large appetite, and small time frame. Therefore, don't skeptical to join us in this One Of A Kind this experience.

Here are some highlights of the samples on our tour.

*Discover food that you haven't seen before.

*See the brilliant colors of the downtown flower market.

*Discover ancient American buildings in Saigon.

*Gain insight into some of the local history and knowledge.

*And many hidden gems and small alleys.

See you soon!!

*First dish: "Bo La Lot" which is the beef wrapped in betel leaf.

1: Bo Lat Lot

These little grilled beef parcels are a strong contender for our favourite dish in the whole of Vietnam. They’re simply beef with garlic and shallots wrapped in betel leaf and grilled on a stick over charcoal. They may not look like much but they are so delicious it’s difficult to put into words. Typically they are served with Vietnamese rice paper, vermicelli noodles and greens and are to be dipped in fish sauce.

*Second dish: "Banh Khot" which is the savory crispy rice cake.

2: Bánh Khot

Sometimes found in the same restaurants (and stalls) as Bánh xèo, Bánh Khot are very small pancakes made from the same ingredients as Bánh xèo – rice flour, water and turmeric with the addition of coconut milk. Topped with shrimp, onions and more coconut milk, they are bitesize, delicious and once again, served with greens and a spicy fish sauce.

*Third dish: "Banh Trang Nuong" which is called Vietnamese street pizza (grilled expanding cake)

3: Banh trang nuong (Vietnamese ‘street pizza’)

Originally from the beautiful countryside city of Dalat (one of our favourite places in the country), banh trang nuong, or ‘Vietnamese pizza’ is essentially thick rice paper grilled with varied toppings often including eggs, dried shrimp, pork, herbs and spices. Found all over the city, this cheap and tasty snack is a perfect light snack or as part of a food tour.

*Fourth dish: "Nuoc mia" which is Sugar Cane Juice mixed with kumquat

4: Nước Mía (sugar cane juice)

While this is not really a ‘dish’, it is still absolutely worth a mention here. Sugar cane juice is found all over South East Asia, but we have come across it the most frequently in Vietnam. Often created right in front of your eyes, the juice is created by crushing sugar cane stalks either by hand or mechanically. The delicious drink is served cold, fresh and with added Kumquat juice for a flash of citrus that makes the perfect drink for a hot day.

*Fifth dish: " Banh Canh Ghe " which is Cake of Huge Crab noodle soup cooked in the clay pot.

5: Banh Canh Ghe ( Crab noodle soup)

Most of the tourists will try "Pho" when they travel to Saigon. Otherwise, have you ever tried the "Banh Canh Ghe"?. The rice noodle of this dish is made from Wheat Flour which is very chewy and thicky, the broth is so delicious you can taste the coconut milk which is very aromatic. Instead of using the bowl, they will put everything in the clay pot to keep it still warm until you finish the meal. There is also a giant crab on the top like the picture below.

*Sixth dish: "Banh Xeo" which is Giant Sizzling Pancake from Mekong Delta region

6: Bánh xèo

Bánh xèo quite literally means ‘sizzling pancake’ and is made from rice flour, water, and turmeric. They come filled with a variety of different meats and even shrimp in addition to mung beans and beansprouts. Once again it is eaten with mixed green leaves and herbs, wrapped in rice paper and dipped in a fish sauce usually served with little chunks of chili and garlic. It is really quite delicious and can be found for incredibly cheap across the city.

*Seventh dish: "Hai San" which is the culinary street seafood & local beers.

7: Seafood & local beers

We have some seafood dishes which are scallops, clams, and grilled prawns. You might eat these dishes before somewhere but I am quite sure that you will never taste the same. Because of the atmosphere, the vibe in the street, the way they cook as well as different sauces combined together to create the amazing seafood street.

*Eighth dish: " Egg Coffee or Coconut Ice Cream"

8: Egg Coffe or Coconut Ice Cream.

Have you ever heard the story of Egg Coffee? Back in 1946, that's exactly how Vietnamese egg coffee was introduced to the world. During the French War, there was a serious shortage of milk in Hanoi, so people came up with an idea to use the egg york as a substitute. Joining us on this unique experience as you are in Saigon.
