Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho 1 Day
  • It would be a miss if visiting Mekong Delta without a stop at Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho City, an originally spontaneous market, which is one of the most famous and biggest floating markets in the Mekong Delta and absolutely different from other floating markets in Thailand. From the early morning, a countless number of boats and sampans will gather here, making the whole area more lively and stunning than ever. Cai Rang Floating Market is opened all day and night that you have a lot of time to explore the local’s agricultural life and how they trade their goods directly from boat to boat. The very first impression the tour makes on everyone is the extremely lively and crowded trading atmosphere of Cai Rang Floating Market. After that, we’ll head to Cai Be for joining a local cooking class, biking around peaceful village paths, enjoying the melody of South Vietnam folk music, and then relaxing on a rowing sampan through a mangrove palm canals to feel the real Mekong atmosphere.

Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho 1 Day

05:00 am, our guide will pick you up at your hotel to start Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho 1 Day. We will have a light breakfast on private car. On the way to Mekong Delta, you can also spread out of sight watching endless green or yellow paddy rice field on the both sides of street. Otherwise, taking a nap during the time of transferring is a good thing to do to get more energy back and enjoy the whole tour as well.

After about 3-hour driving from Saigon through the express highway, we reach Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho City.

Then, we take a private boat to visit Cai Rang Floating Market, one of the most famous and biggest floating markets in the Mekong Delta. From the early morning, a countless number of boats and sampans will gather here, making the whole area more lively and stunning than ever. While the large boats are full of farm products and specialties, such as vegetables, grapefruit, coconut, banana, watermelon, dragon fruit and rambutan, small ones mainly focus on selling foods, coffee, light snacks, Vietnamese noodles, soft drinks, etc. for breakfast. It would be regretful if you could not drop by and purchase something here.

After that, our tour guide takes you to some traditional workshops. You have great time learning how locals make “Hu Tieu”. The talented chef – Gordon Ramsay, once exclaimed that the bowl of noodles he ate at Cai Rang Floating Market has one of the best broths he has ever tasted.

11:00 am, leaving Can Tho City, we head to Cai Be (Tien Giang Province) for cooking class.

Joining a cooking class

Joining a cooking class, you not only have another view of cooking style in the South in particular and generally Vietnam and learn how the locals prepare all stuffs of traditional meal but also feel clearly the tranquility, simplicity and rusticity in daily lives of Mekong people; moreover, probably you will find out the different local taste even in Vietnam. To let you know, the Northern people prefer salty taste, while people in the Central of Vietnam are more into spicy dishes, yet Southern cuisine is absolutely sweeter than other rest.

As soon as enjoying the tasty lunch which is cooked by you, then it is the perfect time to chill out on comfortable hammocks under the shadow of tropical fruit trees for recharging your energy.

You will never forget the precious moments when biking through car-free village roads with tropical fruits and bonsai gardens on the both side, as well as visiting some handicraft workshops nearby to feel more about the real Mekong atmosphere.

Next, we relax on a rowing boat and go through the mangrove palm canal to feel the real peaceful atmosphere of Mekong Delta, even know more about locals’ lifestyle when joking with friendly rowing women. Beside that is the time of enjoying the melody of South Vietnam folk music.

03:30 pm, we come back to Saigon and finish the Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho 1 Day.

I know there are so many tours to Mekong Delta, but I would like to show you some reasons for choosing my trip. I and my family are local family in Mekong Delta. My parents are living there as farmers with a small bread store in the morning and a grape fruit garden, so what are more exciting than the experiences with local's life style? We are welcome you as a member in our family and of course, we always have a room to share with you in our home. I would like to offer you two ways to get there, by BIKE or LONG BUS. I am always willing to be your driver :D because I drive back there every weekend, you can enjoy the views on the way better. Bike will be a good choice if you would like to stay one day and one night there, but if you only have one day, I highly recommend you a very comfortable long Bus, then I will still have a Bike to drive you around there. If you would like to taste some traditional Vietnamese foods or you are gonna to join a class here, so now you will not need to do this if you book my trip. It's great if you can get up early to go to local market with me, pick up some materials and learn how to cook these tradition foods with the chief is my Mom and your assistant is me :D I get a menu for you as below pics My trip is the best way for you to get away from a trip with many other tourist and follow the tour guide during your trip. No, I am not your tour guide, I am your local friend, so I would like to experience with you on sailing boats to the islands, sit back on the horse wagon, visit coconut candy mills, selling breads, etc, All things I can do my best to show you This is ONE DAY trip, but I really recommend that you should spend 2 DAYS and ONE NGHTS here to enjoy the peaceful atmostphere as long as the traditional cuisines of local. So please contact me to get more info about the accomodation at my house for your best choice :D
