Visit Hoa Lu Old Citadel with Dinh Temple and Le Temple
We leave Hanoi at 08.00 and head south for the two hour drive along Highway One. We spend one hour visiting the Dinh and Le sanctuaries. These are the two remaining temples of the ancient citadel of Hoa Lu. The first is dedicated to Dinh Tien Hoang (also known as Dinh Bo Linh), an Emperor from the Dinh Dynasty. The second commemorates the rulers of the Le Dynasty. Dinh Bo Linh successfully conquered Vietnam’s first independent rulers, the Ngo Dynasty. On his death in 980, General Le Hoan wisely married Dinh’s widow and established the Le Dynasty and enlarged the citadel.
Rowing boat trip in Tam Coc (Three caves)
We then move on to Tam Coc for a three hour boat trip along the Boi River. This area is rightly often referred to as the Halong Bay on land due to the similar topography. We return back to Hanoi at 6pm.

For the price the day trip to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc was great. The boat trip was the best part. Lunch was a great selection of choices. However if you want an enthusiastic guide, a bus/van that doesn't sound like a jumbo jet starting up and a bike that isn't falling apart, then I'd go elsewhere!

The Tour was very well Organized and very interesting! We liked the diversity of the Tour to See the Old Temples of hoa lu and the cycling to Bich dong which we could only enter bay bare foot because it was flodded - very exciting experience! The boat Ride with the sampan was Special - very amazing Mountains and fields under water! The only Bad experience were the selling boats during the boat Trip which were really penetrantly Asking to buy something for the Rider and the Rider asked for a Tip (which is ok) but when we have her the Money she wanted at least 100000 dong and was very unfriendly when we Said no! Apart from that it was a very Nice Trip!!!!

Great experience in the Tam Cocs (Three Caves). The nearly ninety mins boat ride in Ngo Dong river in sampans to see the three caves was a thrilling experience. The caves in some places were not even two meters high from water and one had to bend low to escape the hanging rocks. One of the caves was more than hundred meters and was pitch dark inside. The ride was a journey into the world of nature, high mountains, thick vegetation, birds flying and ducks sailing in water. It would take a day for this tour along with some pagodas en route but a must for all nature lovers and travellers.

Wow by the beauty of nature and serenity. We enjoyed cycling in the village and thru the green paddy. Stop as wish to immerse in the serenity of nature. Along the way, visited a local family to learn the local way of life - simple life but very happy. The bamboo boat ride on the long winding river and thru the 3 caves was another enjoyable activity. Both sides of the river are green paddy fields and surrounded by limestone hills. Time flies when one was enveloped in the nature of beauty. At the end of the trip, prepared to give the boat man a small token to thank him for a safe journey.
