Day 1&2: Explore Phong Nha

This tour will give you the opportunity to experience caving, trekking and camping in the middle of the jungle. Explore Hang En and Hang Lanh caves, located within the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.

Hanoi – Phong Nha
Departure around 18:00 PM from Hanoi by sleeper bus to directly Phong Nha.

Day 1: Phong Nha – Rao Thuong  Valley – Hang Lanh
Arriving early by sleeper bus, you will be dropped off at the hotel where you can enjoy a hot shower and breakfast. Start your ultimate adventure with a pick-up from your hotel in Phong Nha around 8:00 AM for a short transfer to the tour company office. Learn all about safety, collect your gear and sign a release form before driving 45 minutes through the National Park to reach the trailhead at around 10:00 AM.

The next three hours will take you on a trek down through the jungle and across to Rao Thuong Valley. Stop for a picnic lunch from about to regain your energy for the next 1.5-hours' journey to Hang Lanh. The group will venture into Hang Lanh and explore the first kilometer of the 4km-long cave. Hang Lanh is an active stream cave, with cold water running through it, and it is well adorned with stalagmite and stalactite formations. Rare fossils can be found in many places. Back at camp, you’ll have time to relax before a sizzling grilled dinner is served, complete with rice wine and the sounds of the surrounding jungle. Sleep under the trees and the stars, and rest up for Hang En the following day.

Day 2: Hang En – Ban Doong Village – Phong Nha
Wake at 8:00 AM for breakfast and pack up your belongings. Depart camp at 9:00 AM and trek to the entrance of Hang En. The entrance seems small for such a large cave that lies ahead. As you make your way to the main passage of the cave, you’ll be astounded by the view. Explore Hang En for the duration of the morning: the cliffs above the beach, ancient fossils, and of course, the exit, which was featured in the Hollywood movie Pan.
After your exploration of the cave, have lunch on the beach within the cave while soaking up your surroundings. For the following few hours, make your way back through the mountainous river valley, through the jungle and across streams, until reaching the minority village, Ban Doong. Spend about half an hour getting to know the elders of Ban Doong and then continue on. Enjoy a water break by the stream as you prepare for the biggest challenge ahead, climbing the treacherous hill up to the Ho Chi Minh Road. Watch out for leeches and push ahead to the road, where cold drinks are waiting. Return by vehicle to Phong Nha by late afternoon.

Day 3: Phong Nha – Hue

On the third day, come to the center of Phong Nha to catch your bus (7:00 AM) and continue your trip towards Hue (optional to Hoi An).

The Quang Binh province in Central Vietnam is quickly developing the reputation as the adventure capital of Southeast Asia. Gargantuan limestone caverns beg exploration beneath the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Hordes of tourists are flocking to the area to venture inside these ancient caves. Now more exciting activities are available for those searching for more pursuits on the surface. One such experience is mountain biking in Phong Nha, which offers a mix of tough off-road trails, rural surroundings, historic sights and enchanting scenery. While the grandeur of the massive caves hiding amongst the jungles of the national park attracts thousands of visitors, the farmlands in the neighbouring area remain relatively untouched. The mountain biking in Phong Nha took us deep into the heart of it and left us longing to venture back out on two wheels to relive the experience. • “Shi is an amazing guide. I cycled 40km with him around Phong Nha and it was awesome. Super friendly guy with very good bikes. I spoke to him the day before about the kind of trip I was after. I do a lot of portrait photography, so i was keen to meet and hopeful snap some of the locals. He tailored the trip around this, introducing me to people along the way and even translated for me where needed. Couldn't recommend this enough, it was one of the highlights of my trip” _ by Chris Rush, from U.K • “So after completing the Son Doong cave tour, I was tired and thought I had did enough. But biking with Pvt. Shi was the perfect complement. In fact, I think it's the perfect complement to any trip in Phong Nha. Biking around the town and to the local side really added a personal touch. Highways became streets. Streets into muddy roads. Muddy roads to rivers. Whether it was rice fields and cows to small neighborhoods and smiling kids, every part of the biking tour felt great. You get a real sense of the place” – by James, from the U.S More about this adventure, please see at: http://www.nomadasaurus.com/caves-farmland-mountain-biking-in-phong-nha-tour/
