Day 01: Arrival: HCM - Paro - Thimphu (65kms/1.5hrs)

The flight to Paro is considered one of the most spectacular flight experiences in the world.  While flying in and out of Bhutan, one can see Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makula, and other high peaks such as Jumolhari, Jichu Drakey, and Tsrim Gang. You will be received by Representative of Best Bhutan by Triip at the airport.

Drive to Thimphu after landing and visit the following places:

Thimphu Altitude: 2320m. Thimphu is a small, charming capital city nestled in the heart of the Himalayas with a population of about 100,000 people.  It is nothing like what a capital city is imagined to be. All houses and buildings are painted and constructed in traditional Bhutanese style.

Memorial Chorten – This stupa was built in 1974 to honor the 3rd King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. This religious structure is circumambulated only in a clockwise direction (reciting prayers and whirling the large red prayer wheels).

Buddha Point – In the afternoon visit the world’s largest sitting Buddha, an immense statue housing a monastery and visitors center. Enjoy a stunning view of Thimphu city from this point.

Thimphu post officeThe town's post office has a rich collection of stamps. A special feature of this post office is that visitors can make a word stamp photos of themselves and these stamps can be used to paste on the envelope and send as usual

Tashichho Dzong - Tashichho Dzong has been the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Other government departments are housed in buildings nearby.


Evening: Explore Thimphu town.

Overnight in Thimphu - Kuenphen Rabten Resort


Day 2: Thimphu - Punakha (77kms / 3 hours)

Distance:77km (3hrss)

Elevation: 1,200m/3,900ft

After breakfast at the hotel, drive 15km north of capital city to visit Tango Monastery (2hrs round trip)

  • This monastery has an important religious position from the 12th century, when it was the home of the Lama who gave it Drukpa Kagyupa school of Buddhism came to Bhutan. The monastery was built in the 15th century by Drukpa Kunley (Crazy Buddha). Tango is the highest academic center of Buddhism in Bhutan. As every Je Khenpo (Bhutan's top religious master) has completed his studies 9 years here. After the end of the term, monks usually spend 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days sitting Meditation at Cheri Monastery nearby


Afternoon continue your journey to Punakha. It was once the capital of Bhutan throughout the era of Zhabdrun Ngawang Namkgyal, the founder of Bhutan. Today, it is the center of action main and beliefs of the county and the winter house of the central monastery of Bhutan. Here it is blessing with mild climate and because of natural drainage from Pho River (Nam) and Mo River (Nu), Punakha valley provides an abundance of crops and fruits. 


En-route, visit the Dochula Heaven Gate. Heaven gate with 108 memorial chorten, located at an altitude 3,100m and next to the country's first botanical garden. The weather here is generally high fog and cold. However, when the sky is clear, visitors can admire the frame Majestic scene of the Bhutanese mountain range from above.


After reaching Punakha visit Chimmi Lhakhang

  • Walking through the rice paddies to Chimmi Lhakhang. It was built in 1499, by Lama Ngawang Chogyal at the place where his cousin – Lam Drukpa Kuenley - defeated a mighty demon and blessed the land. This monastery is also referred to as "The Belief of Birth" and is believed by many couples to visit and Pray to have a baby acne next year


Overnight in Punakha - Zhingkham Resort 


Day 3: Punakha - Paro (130km/ 4-5hrs)

Distance: 130km (4-5hrs)

Elevation: 1,200m/3,900ft

After breakfast visit the following places:

Punakha Dzong - The name means Palace of Great Bliss. This Dzong stands magnificently on the spit of land where two rivers (Phochu and Mochu) meet. Punakha Dzong has special significance in Bhutanese history as the place where Bhutan's first King, Ugyen Wangchuck, was crowned in 1907. 


Punakha Suspension Bridge - This Bridge is located near Punakha Dzong and is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan. The bridge connecting the nearby villages and mountains adjacent gives a good subject for the photography


Afternoon drive back to Paro for the night hold.

Day 04: Paro- Hike to Taktshang, Tiger’s Nest (4-5hrs)

Bhutan’s most picturesque landmark, Taktshang the Tiger’s nest clings to the side of a steep cliff 300 meters above the Paro valley. The place was first visited by Guru Rimpoche, founder of the tantric form of Buddhism in Himalayan countries, in the 8th century.  It was said that he meditated there for about three months.  The original temple was built in the 17th century, but tragically, it was consumed by fire in 1998. Like a phoenix, the temple was rebuilt to its fullest glory in 2003. Takshang is considered to be the 10th-holiest site in the Buddhist world. The programs afterward are optional to the guest


Evening: Stroll through Paro downtown and visit local handcraft stores.

Day 05: Departure : Paro – Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast visit the following places:


Kyichu LhakhangIt is one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom dating back to 7th century (the other is Jambey Lhakahng in Bumthang). The lhakhang complex is composed of two temples. The first temple was built by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century and in 1968, H.M. Ashi Kesang, the Queen Mother of Bhutan, built the second temple in original pattern.

National Museum (Ta Dzong)Was built in the 17th century to guard the Paro Rimpong dzong (fortress) below.  It was said that the future first king was kept in this tower as a prisoner for a week. It was the third king who restored the Ta-dzong and converted it into the National Museum. The visit to the museum will familiarize you with the Bhutanese way of life and will also acquaint you with the natural and cultural history.

Afternoon following the flight schedule transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
