Hue and Hoi An, not like any other cities of Vietnam, perhaps in Asia, still remain calm, quiet and poetry places despite the flow of rush development as often seen in the country nowadays.|Once the centre of the culture, politic, religion and trading in Vietnam, tales of the two cities are rich with imperial palaces, royal tombs, pagodas and ancient town which luckily and amazingly survived after long and painful history of wars.| Peaceful might be the best word to describe the places. Pedaling on quiet streets, along the river, crossing the hundred year old bridges, on the rice field, in contact with soft, calm and friendly locals, all make the unique experience, perhaps of the life time.| The trip nevertheless, is a real adventure by nature that requires considerable efforts especially when biking up to the Hai Van (Ocean Cloud) Pass which is renowned for its scenic beauty. Presenter Jeremy Clarkson, host of the BBC Top Gear featured the pass during the show’s 2008, Vietnam Special calling the road “a deserted ribbon of perfection-one of the best coast roads in the world.

Cycling Mekong Delta homestay. First, tropical fruit trees such as Mangosteen, Durian, Rambutan, Langsat, Green Siamese Coconut, and the Date-palm were brought in by father Gernot from Thailand and Malaysia through the Cambodia gateway. So, amongst the first Vietnamese in Cho Lach to grow the imported trees known to many were the brothers of Nguyen Van Hieu (a councilman, who was born here in 1883) and Nguyen Van Thuan (a foreman, born 1887, died 1975). With 25,000 hectares and 140 km South of Hanoi, Cuc Phuong is the first National Park of Vietnam which was established in 1962. The botanical richness of the forest is impressive as it supports a wide variety of flora species and patches of primeval forest, including ancient trees with thick clusters of roots, and parasitic plants and ligneous creepers. Some tree species have been introduced from Burma, India, and Borneo. Clusters of orchards grow near cave entrances, where the moisture conditions and light are ideal. Varieties include thousand-year dracontomelum and parashorea trees which can be visited in a one or two hour hiking, and coral, vanilla, snow-white, and butterfly orchids everywhere. Large mammals inhabit the park including panthers and bears, but rarely appear, so the most popular animals you can see are monkeys, gibbons, flying squirrels and pheasants.
